The Brides Guide to Wedding Shows

For all the brides in their wedding planning era, here's how you can be prepared to walk into your first wedding show...

First, let's talk about some of our favorite shows in the Spokane area that we attend as vendors; SWAE's Spokane Bridal Expo, Post Falls Bridal Tour by Post Falls parks and rec, and Bridal Festival at the Spokane Convention Center. These are very large events and can be overwhelming if you've never been (or even if you have been a few times). You'll be surrounded by fashion shows, free desserts, a million pamphlets, and a lot of really awesome people. While it's easy to get overwhelmed, don't worry, this is your one stop shop for all things weddings and an invaluable experience.

If you're starting from square one, shows are the best place to meet and chat with everyone.

You are encouraged to ask questions and see who you mesh with. The beauty of a wedding show is an abundance of options, and people who genuinely want to help.

Another amazing perk is the deals! Many vendors offer discounts or special promotions that are exclusive to wedding show guests. There's usually some fun bridal giveaways as well.

Now that you know where to go, and what to expect, here's how to prepare:

  1. Choose the right show: Research the wedding shows in your area and choose the one that best fits your style and budget. Look for shows that have vendors that cater to your specific needs, such as photographers, caterers, florists, and wedding planners.

  2. Register in advance: Most wedding shows offer pre-registration, which can save you time and money. Pre-registration often comes with perks such as discounted tickets, early access to the show, and a chance to win prizes.

  3. Make a plan: Once you have registered, make a plan for the day of the show. Create a list of the vendors you want to see and the questions you want to ask. It's also a good idea to bring a notebook and pen to take notes.

  4. Dress appropriately: Dress comfortably and wear shoes that are easy to walk in. You'll be doing a lot of walking and standing, so make sure you're comfortable.

  5. Bring a friend: Bring a friend or family member or your future spouse with you to the show. Having someone to bounce ideas off of can be helpful, and it's always more fun to share the experience with someone else.

Remember this is about YOUR day! Don't stress, enjoy this special season of planning and soak up that newly engaged feeling.
